30 Day Song Challenge.
Day 1: Your Current Favorite Song: “I Felt Free” - Circa Survive
First off, I love the band, and I love the new album. It took a little while to grow on me, but I really enjoy the whole thing now. But, this song hit me on the first listen; I think everyone has “that song” that just sticks out to them when they first hear an album.
It’s a really straightforward one, but I think the lyrics really resonate deeply with me. I feel like I’m just recently getting sanity back after a few years of questioning lots of things in life, and coming to terms with a lot of things—as the song says, “I will learn to live again.” It really feels like I’m only recently learning to live again, after getting out of a serious relationship, changing my major in college, and just trying to sort everything out.
But I hear hope in this song, something that I’ve been feeling again for a long time. Even through hard times, we can come out of it and learn to live life again, and just be happy with ourselves.
